Human By Nature in Kerala Backwaters

Palm trees In Kerala Backwaters India

Some travellers visit Kerala, in South India, for the breathtaking coastlines, the gorgeous mountains and the glorious tropical beaches. Others want to experience the tea plantations, lively cities, tasty spicy food, abundance of wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. There are so many reasons to visit, but for us, the vibrant culture, the welcoming people and nature in Kerala are the greatest reasons. Kerala is Human by Nature, and it was our experiences in Kerala with both humans and nature that were some of the highlights of our visit to India. In Kerala, we were met with kindness everywhere we went. Strangers went out of their way to ask if we needed help or to say hello. Furthermore, our boat trips on Kerala’s backwaters are highlights of our travels in over 50 countries.

Visiting Quirky Buddha Park in Vientiane, Laos

Visiting_quirky_Buddha_Park_in_Vientiane_Laos

On a visa run from Bangkok in Thailand to Vientiane in Laos, we discovered the ominous and fascinating Buddha Park. It is one of the favorite tourist attractions in Vientiane of many visitors, ranking in the top 3 things to do in Vientiane on TripAdvisor. Since reading the reviews and seeing the unusual and striking photos of demon sculptures, the park was on our must-do list.

We love visiting obscure attractions, and having heard of 200 unique sculptures; we thought it would be an entertaining experience. We were not let down! Buddha Park Vientiane was one of our favorite tourist attractions we visited in Laos.

Our Favourite Things To Do in Vientiane Laos

Vientiane_Laos_city_street

After three months in Southern Thailand, we needed to leave the country to renew our visas. So, we decided doing an overland visa run would be fun. We chose Laos for several reasons. First, it would be a fun, overland journey from Thailand. Secondly, it is a cheap country (we were low on funds). Thirdly, we wanted to see what had happened to the untouched, authentic country we had fallen in love with 20 years earlier. We had treasured our visit 20 years earlier and had found many interesting things to do in Vientiane, Laos. Please keep reading our Vientiane blog to discover our favourite things to do in Vientiane and find the best attractions for you to visit.

Our Travels in Laos – A Return Road Trip 20 years on

Our_Travels_in_Laos_a_return_road_trip_20_years_on

Laos had recently opened its doors to tourism. When we there in 1999 it started a marketing campaign ‘Visit Laos Year 2000’ to welcome more visitors to travel to Laos. It was a country considered off the beaten track even by the most intrepid backpackers. We saw striking landscapes, architecture and temples. But best of all was the opportunity to meet genuine people.

8 reasons to go to Thailand’s Koh Phangan Island now!

Koh_Phangan_Thailand_ sunset

We have been going to Thailand’s Koh Phangan Island for over 20 years. We have been to over 50 countries in the world, and Thailand remains our all-time favourite. Along with Australia and New Zealand, we consider it one of our homes. This post is about what to do in Koh Phangan and the reasons to go to Koh Phangan now.

Many travellers don’t realise that things change, places change, and even you change. And 20 years later, you will no longer be that good-looking skinny backpacker that can dance on tables after having knocked back 10 pints of beer (without falling).

Twenty years later, island paradises don’t stay the same. They too mature, develop, age and grow.

Why we always go to Thailand’s Islands… & why you should too!

Koh_Tao_one_of_our_favourite_of_Thailand's_Islands

We have been to Thailand’s islands 17 times since 2006. People have said to us, “Oh! You could have been to Mexico,” or Costa Rica, or some other place that they had just been to for their holidays. They ask us why we don’t go somewhere new. And they don’t understand why we always choose to go to Thailand’s islands. It’s a good question. So we’ve written this post to let you know the reasons to visit Thailand and why you should go to Thailand’s islands on your next trip too!
